The idea, originally conceived as an app, was brought to life by Verena Kipp as a Komoot tour and invites visitors to explore Wiesbaden’s diverse second-hand and vintage scene.
The aim of the Vintage Shopping Tour is to raise the profile of Wiesbaden’s second-hand fashion and goods and to encourage people to browse in person. The tour combines local offerings into a journey of discovery, thereby linking sustainable shopping with a unique urban experience. The student team, comprising Verena Kipp (Media Informatics), Yolande Kapitza (Media Management) and Denis Schneider (Business Informatics), aims to contribute to greater sustainability and inspire people to shop mindfully.
The concept was developed as part of an interdisciplinary advanced course for the Media Informatics and Media Management degree programmes in the summer semester of 2025. As part of the World Design Capital project ‘Dreh dein Ding – Circular Citizens of Wiesbaden’, the students worked with industry partners Svenja Bickert-Appleby (New Order Design) and Peter Post (Studio Peter Post × Petra Esveld), under the supervision of Prof. Sebastian Pedersen and Prof. Veronika Weiß, to develop digital ideas for promoting the circular economy.
The Vintage Shopping Tour is also part of the current exhibition on WDC projects at WerkRaum Wiesbaden (Langgasse 5–9, in the former SportScheck building).
As part of the World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026, WerkRaum is open to visitors until 31 October 2026.
