Computer Science Networking Event: Discussion on AI in Software Development

Das Netzwerktreffen am Fachbereich DCSM regt zu vielen Gesprächen zu vielen Themen rund um KI an.

About 60 attendees from the IT industry took part in the Computer Science networking event hosted by the Faculty of Design Computer Science Media (DCSM) at Hochschule RheinMain – University of Applied Sciences and Arts on May 20, 2026.

The focus was on discussing the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on software development and computer science education. The event was primarily aimed at representatives of regional companies. Many of the participating companies already collaborate with HSRM and employ cooperative students. As a result, the networking event provided an important platform for dialogue between the university and the business community.

The Computer Science program at HSRM not only keeps pace with the changes in software development but also actively shapes them. Artificial Intelligence is a key driver of this transformation. Accordingly, the meeting featured presentations on current research and teaching approaches through which the university is integrating AI into software development and computer science training.

The event kicked off at 10 a.m. with a reception in the foyer of Building D at HSRM. Following a welcome address by Dean Prof. Dr. Ralf Dörner, a series of specialized presentations took place, including the talk “Studying Computer Science in the Age of AI: Why It’s More Necessary Than Ever.” In the afternoon, starting at 1 p.m., guests were able to explore various AI demonstrations during a guided tour.

Among other things, projects and applications from the studies were presented. Topics featured included computer vision & human-AI interaction, text-based generative AI, AI-based applications, AI in programming education, and AI demos in software development.

In addition, the HSRM provided information on further collaboration opportunities for companies in the region. Among other things, the university presented the Company Contact Day, the new RheinMain ProjectHub project marketplace, and the cooperative studies program in Computer Science.

With this networking event, HSRM underscored the importance of collaboration with the regional IT industry and provided a clear impetus for the joint advancement of teaching, research, and practical experience in the context of artificial intelligence.
