Development and Organization of Social Spaces Part-time distance learning degree program
What is it?
The part-time Master of Arts degree program Development and Organization of Social Spaces is offered in cooperation with Fulda University of Applied Sciences. Students acquire knowledge of the basic theoretical references of social work, approaches and methods of empirical research and action research as well as the core competencies of professional leadership.
One third of the degree program's content deals with management skills and the theory and research of social work; two thirds with the development and organization of social spaces. The degree program combines practical experience and theoretical concepts of community work, neighborhood management in urban and regional planning with the structural elements of social work to form a practice-oriented curriculum.
In terms of the didactic communication of the contents, the degree program is based on the blended learning approach, which combines internet-based independent study with integrated tutorials. It also offers the possibility to communicate via a learning platform in distance learning modules with on-campus teaching. The on-campus study days take place alternately at the study locations Wiesbaden and Fulda.
What can I do with it?
Graduates of the master's degree program have developed and deepened their knowledge and skills in the field of professional social work in social spaces.
They are qualified for planning, management, coordination and research activities in participatory development projects and processes.
Their expertise is required in local social policy, social housing, international development cooperation, in the development and management of organizations in the so-called "third sector", in local labor market and economic policy, community economy, neighborhood management and in social urban and regional development.
Doctorate
With a master's degree, graduates have the option of pursuing a doctorate at the Inter-University Doctoral Research Center for Social Work.
