On Monday, May 19, 2025, the mentoring team from the Faculty of Engineering at Hochschule RheinMain traveled to Frankfurt and visited Bertin GmbH, the German site of the international group of companies that manufactures high-end instruments for critical or scientific applications.
Environmental measurement networks for radioactivity
In Frankfurt, solutions are developed for the detection and measurement of ionizing radiation, which are used for monitoring industrial facilities and nuclear power plants, but also for monitoring at borders and in research. In addition to providing an overview of the various devices and products, Franz Rößler, Site Manager, and Benjamin Holz, Project Manager, also showed the students what prospects and roles engineers have at Bertin.
The students were enthusiastic about the excursion. It was an informative and practical event in an interesting company with exciting products. "Now I can get a better idea of the academic appointments available to an engineer," said one student, summing up the day.
