What is it?

Electrical engineering is part of almost every aspect of our everyday lives: In our cars, we are assisted by a multitude of electronic systems, computers and industrial plants are networked via the internet, and we can communicate and access information at any time by smartphone. Future fields such as e-mobility, renewable energy, robotics, autonomous driving or the "Internet of Things" all have one thing in common: electrical engineering as a key technology.

In our Electrical Engineering degree program, you will acquire comprehensive fundamental skills for the diverse tasks and occupational fields of electrical engineering. Special emphasis is placed on practical relevance.

We offer two particularly future-oriented areas of specialization in the Electrical Engineering degree program:  Electrical engineering & Information Technology and Electrical Engineering & Mobility. This gives you the opportunity to select a specialized focus option after the 3rd semester. The degree program offers you modern, practice-oriented and future-proof training and qualifies you for interesting, challenging and varied tasks.

In the Time4ING version of the program, you can study Electrical Engineering at a different pace at Hochschule RheinMain. The advantages include a longer period of study, additional study training and longer periods of governmental financial aid (BAföG). You can find more information here.

What can I do with it?

The tasks and job profiles of electrical engineers are highly diverse and interesting, from research and development to project planning, sales and operation. They design and develop new technical components, for example in the automotive industry, develop hardware and software, e.g. for communication technology, or manage projects dealing with the introduction of new technologies. Working as an engineer is by no means a solitary occupation – quite the contrary: teamwork is required.

Electrical engineering is the driving force behind innovations in the most important markets of the future. As a graduate of our Electrical Engineering degree program, your prospects of finding a varied, creative and well-paid job are excellent. You will find future job opportunities in a variety of industries, such as the electrical industry, companies from the automotive, information and communications technology sectors, IT service providers, medical technology, the electricity industry, the automotive industry, automotive engineering, aerospace technology or management consulting. What you choose to specialize in during your studies can be the first step towards your future professional career.
