Eight students on the Electrical and Aeronautical Engineering degree program at RheinMain University of Applied Sciences have successfully passed their examination for the radiotelephony certificate in English and German at the Federal Network Agency following their first semester.
The content relevant to the examination is taught in the course "Communication and ICAO English" in the first semester. The students were actively supported by lecturers Anna Strehlow (ICAO English) and Mike Morr (radiotelephony). In addition, student teaching assistants from higher semesters helped with the practical training. Typical radiotelephony situations were simulated, with the students taking on the role of pilots and the teaching assistants taking on the role of air traffic control.
Practical test follows theory
After the successful examination at the university at the end of the winter semester, the students also successfully passed the practical test at the Federal Network Agency.
Degree Program Head Prof. Martin Müller is very pleased with the students' voluntary initiative and the successes achieved. These results underline the fact that Hochschule RheinMain offers targeted and practical training that optimally prepares students for their future challenges in aviation.
He also pointed out that the university has been registered as a flight school with the Darmstadt Regional Council under the name "HSRM Aviation Training" since last year. This means that students on the degree program can be registered for the theoretical PPL examination after successfully passing the examination at Hochschule RheinMain.
With the acquired radiotelephony certificate, the graduates have now gained an additional qualification and are thus optimally prepared for the requirements of the industry.
The university would like to congratulate the successful candidates and wish them every success in their future endeavors.
