Further details on registration deadlines can be found on our registration information page.
Grades are entered in Stud.IP or Compass (additional language courses). Please do not call the LehrLernZentrum to find out your grade. The resulting costs of at least EUR 8.50 shall be borne by the participant.
Innovation Hub
Service learning means subject-specific and interdisciplinary learning through real tasks and problems, the solution of which supports social, cultural or ecological projects or even makes them possible in the first place. Students learn to take responsibility for the future of our society and to play an active role in shaping it. The method of teaching specialist skills and key skills through civic engagement originally comes from the USA. However, it is now also being used successfully in teaching at many schools, higher education institutions and universities in Germany.
This depends on the project and your workload. As a rule, you can achieve 3 or 5 CPs in the service learning projects of the LehrLernZentrum. In individual projects, you can also achieve only 1 CP. The exact number of CPs can be found in the respective job advertisements for the individual projects on our homepage. The effort required is different for each organization. Each organization/institution and each project has its own participation requirements. In any case, a 3 to 5-page reflection report must be prepared at the end of your voluntary work and sent to ccc(at)hs-rm.de. Only the "Children and Youth Helpline" project does not require a report to be submitted.
As a rule, you must obtain a time sheet/proof from the organizations/institutions where you carry out your voluntary work, which you send to ccc(at)hs-rm.de.
First and foremost, you will be trained and supervised by members of staff in the respective organizations/institutions. The LehrLernZentrum also offers preparatory workshops for individual projects and reflection meetings for all projects. In addition, there are so-called "shoulder look appointments" for longer-lasting projects, where you can meet and exchange ideas with a member of staff from the LehrLernZentrum in between. You can also contact ccc(at)hs-rm.de at any time in between with your concerns, questions etc.
Service learning combines practical learning with social engagement and offers numerous benefits, such as hands-on learning, soft skills development and personal growth. You learn to take (social) responsibility for your community and to recognize social challenges. You can grow beyond yourself and participate in projects that you would not be exposed to under your regular study plan. This gives you the opportunity to think outside the box and earn points for your application documents, as practical experience increases your employability.
In addition, participating in a service learning project increases your chances of receiving a scholarship, for example, as many scholarship providers require you to have done voluntary work in order to receive a scholarship (e.g. Deutschlandstipendium). And did you know that there is an award for Student of the Year, which is endowed with €5,000? This award is given to students who show outstanding commitment above and beyond their studies.
Language Hub
Our range of language courses is based on the language requirements of the degree programs and the cooperation with universities abroad for semesters abroad. If you are interested in a language that is not currently offered, you are welcome to contact us by e-mail at sprachenzentrum(at)hs-rm.de. Please note that some language courses only take place during the semester break.
If a course is canceled in advance due to lack of interest, all registered students will receive a notification by email. If the course is not canceled, we recommend attending the first course meeting. It may happen that students show up without online registration and the course takes place after all.
The Language Center's courses are designed to develop and enhance the foreign language skills of students at Hochschule RheinMain. The goals and methods used in foreign language classes are very different from classes for native speakers. Therefore, native speakers are excluded from courses in their own native language. A possible exception could be made for so-called "unbalanced bilingual" students who are very weak in some of the four skills (reading, writing, listening comprehension, speaking). However, this would have to be discussed individually with the teacher.
Global Hub
The International Office organizes semesters abroad. Nevertheless, you can contact us if you are planning a semester abroad. We offer preparatory language courses as well as course catalogs for intercultural skills. In our courses, you can reflect on your experiences before and after the semester abroad and prepare yourself optimally for new challenges.
