From the examination regulations:
The international profile of the degree program "International Industrial Engineering" (IWI) is characterized by intensive technical language training in the compulsory language English and in a second compulsory elective language (French or Spanish) parallel to the extensive economic and technical training. For this reason, good prior knowledge of the language is essential.
English
Formal requirement for admission to studies: Level CEFR B1 (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) - this corresponds to at least six years of school English (at least a 4.0 is required in the last school report). Proof can also be provided by means of an equivalent language test (e.g. TOEFL or Cambridge Certificate).
French, Spanish
Formal requirement for admission to study French and Spanish: level CEFR A2 (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) - this corresponds to at least three years of school French or Spanish (at least a 4.0 is required in the last school report). Proof can also be provided by means of an equivalent language test (e.g. DELF). If the applicant is proficient in more than one of the foreign languages mentioned at A2 level, he or she must decide which of these languages is to be taken as a second compulsory elective language at the latest at the time of enrollment.
In individual cases, the Examination Board will decide on the recognition of existing language skills.
Exemption
For foreign students, German is automatically recognized as a second foreign language; this exempts them from Spanish or French. The performance is entered without a grade. A recognized foreign university entrance qualification serves as proof.
