The overarching goal of the project is to build a platform for the exchange of knowledge and the promotion of innovations in the development, production, optimization, application, scaling and ramp-up of regenerative synthetic fuels based on the broad, long-standing expertise of the participating partners and associated partners. The overarching goal is to significantly accelerate the market ramp-up of these fuels so that they are available in sufficient quantities in a timely manner and contribute to the ambitious climate protection goals in the transport sector. This is to be achieved through a sustainable bundling of existing individual and network activities on the platform applied for. This should take into account the primary goal of increasing sustainability and making the greatest possible contribution to climate protection. Last but not least, it is also about avoiding stranded assets through the continued use of existing infrastructures, some of which have been built at considerable expense, and about leveraging value creation and optimization potential in mechanical and plant engineering for Germany.

InnoFuels does justice to the highly interdisciplinary nature of this task through cooperative work in seven subject-specific innovation focus areas, which work together in teams with experts from science, industry and politics to develop solutions for the focus areas and bring them together. In InnoFuels, methods and exchange platforms are developed and established in such a way that they are available to the research and development community, industry and politics over the course of the project.

Innovation focus 7: Market & Regulation aims to network relevant players to identify, analyze and process the market and regulatory requirements for the generation, distribution and use of synthetic fuels based on renewable energies and to develop solutions. To this end, following an analysis of the market and legal framework conditions as the basics for the networking activities, dialogical and cooperative transfer activities (workshops, discussion forums, etc.) will be initiated with the stakeholders involved, which aim to overcome identified obstacles and adapt regulatory hurdles via suitable transformation processes in order to support a market ramp-up in a prepared manner.
