Prof. Dr. Edeltraud Gehrig
In 2012, I was appointed to the professorship in the research focus "Mathematical Methods in Continuum Mechanics" in the degree program "Applied Mathematics". My interests and focus in research and teaching lie in the mathematical description and modelling of physical-technical structures and dynamic systems with the goal of analysing relationships, enabling predictions and supporting optimization and control. Both equation-based methods (e.g. using differential equation systems to describe physical relationships) and data-based methods (e.g. modeling dynamic systems using measured signals, machine learning methods) are used.
Current research activities include analyzing the dynamics and stability of energy and resource networks, model-reducing data-driven methods for predicting temporal progressions and degradation phenomena, for example in fuel cells, model-predictive controls for the dynamic control of output variables and methods for identifying critical model parameters.
