Excellence in Education Medal for Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Ruppel

The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) honored the industry’s top minds and organizations at its annual awards gala. At the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Hollywood, Dr. Wolfgang Ruppel, media engineering professor at Hochschule RheinMain (HSRM, RheinMain University of Applied Sciences), was awarded the Excellence in Education Medal sponsored by William C. Miller and Ellen Sontag-Miller. Prof. Dr. Ruppel received the award in recognition of his teaching media engineering in Germany, in particular for his more than 15 years of teaching at Hochschule RheinMain.

“I am honored by the award and would like to thank SMPTE for recognizing my work. I would also like to thank all those who support us, especially our partners in the media industry and my colleagues at the university for the excellent collaboration,” says Prof. Dr. Ruppel.

SMPTE is a global film and video engineering organization based in White Plains, New York. The organization develops norms and standards for the motion picture industry (for example HDTV, video formats, etc.), conducts research and provides a global space for networking and education.
