General Information

At the moment all libraries of the University and State Library are open for basic operation such as borrowing books and returning books (Opening Hours). In several libraries you can pick your books from the bookshelves yourselves in others your have to „order“ them via e-mail before you come to the respective library. For more information, please check the locations-site of your library.

For students of the HSRM, who are about to enter their exam phase and for research, there’s a limited amount of work spaces in several libraries. To get one of those, you have to book a work space beforehand via our appointment booking system.

The 3G rule applies to access the buildings where our libraries are located. That means you have to be vaccinated, recovered or tested negatively for Covid to use the libraries and/or their study spaces. Please carry the corresponding documentation with you. The easiest way to document your 3G status are digital certificates (uploaded in the Corona-Warn-App or CovPass-App).

The only exception from this rule is the State Library at Rheinstraße but only to pick up books or return them to the library.

In addition to the 3G rule please always wear a mouth and nose covering inside the libraries and keep the necessary 1,5 meters distance to others!

If you have questions or need help with your media research, you can contact us via:

Unfortunately, on-site advice can’t be offered at this point.

Registration for students and employees of the HSRM

You can use our e-media and databases even without a valid library card. However, if you want to borrow books and other media, you need to register in the library first. To do so, please follow these instructions:

Please complete the online registration form (including voluntary informations such as degree course and e-mail-adress) and click on the „send“ button at the bottom of the site. A new document will open that includes the data you just entered. Please safe this document on your computer and send it as an e-mail-attachement to ausleihe-hlb(at)remove-this.hs-rm.de. Your signature is not needed at this point, you‘ll need to sign the document later when you visit the library in person though.

Please include a scan/photo of your StudentCard (front and backside) OR your provisional student ID OR your certificate of enrollment to the e-mail.

We’re getting your registration ready then. When you visit the library at your place of study for the first time, please come to the circulation desk so we can un-lock your library account. Please note that this is only possible when library staff is around (Opening hours).

In case you want to borrow books on your first visit already, please check out the book numbers (Signaturen) of the respective books in our online catalogue and include them also in the e-mail you send us for registration. How you can get your books and other media for future visits – either by going to the bookshelves yourself or by ordering them beforehand – you can learn at the locations-site of your library.

Registration for non-students of HSRM

Please check your library account regularly, so you don’t miss your due dates and/or to renew your media online, if you need them for a longer period.

Media you don’t need anymore (including inter-library-loans) can be returned during our opening hours via our electronic self-return-shelves or (if available) the self-return boxes.
