What is it?

Communication designers see themselves as mediators who convey messages to various target groups. This complex and dynamic professional field requires a high degree of creative and artistic talent, as well as design and conceptual skills. These are all developed and refined in the degree program Communication Design in order to enable graduates to find convincing answers to society's questions in the broad field of media.

The degree program, which requires a high level of supervision, starts with a fundamental introductory program, developing the students' awareness of creative design and later, during their project-based studies, encouraging individual development and specialization. The interaction of different disciplines such as MotionDesign, interactive media, film, photography, illustration and text plays an important role – the ability to work in a team becomes essential, just as it will be in later professional life. The high proportion of real tasks from the fields of corporate design, advertising, editorial or event media as well as the dialog with partners from business and culture provide practical experience and promote creativity, flexibility, personal accountability and an entrepreneurial mindset. Last but not least, our international exchange program broadens students' cultural competence and professional perspective.

What can I do with it?

Communication designers find creative and artistic ways to translate contexts, plan media concepts and organize their implementation and production. This spectrum includes not only print, film and moving pictures, interactive media and event marketing, but also press and public relations. Creative professionals work in photo, film and television studios, in advertising and communication agencies, multimedia and design studios, in publishing houses, editorial offices as well as in companies in the field of art and culture and are now increasingly also found in specialized start-ups.
