DESCRIPTION:Democracy thrives when people have a say and participate in de
 cision-making. But not all voices are heard equally well.\nThe “Democrac
 y Research in Dialogue” lecture series\, organized by the Hessian Minist
 ry of Higher Education\, Research\, Science and the Arts\, is making a sto
 p at Hochschule RheinMain – University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSR
 M). Minister of Higher Education Timon Gremmels and HSRM President Prof. D
 r. Eva Waller will engage in a discussion with researchers and students.\n
 The following guests will serve as panelists:\nDr. Volkan Çıdam\, holder
  of the Paulskirche professorship in democracy research for the state of H
 esse\, will speak about obstacles to democratic organization\, using the e
 xample of the resistance by faculty and students at Boğaziçi university 
 against autocratic interventions.Prof. Dr. Tanja Grendel\, Faculty of Appl
 ied Social Sciences at HSRM\, asks who is actually involved at the local l
 evel—and who remains excluded due to barriers to access or unsuitable fo
 rmats.Margarete Richter\, from the HSRM’s EcoAct project group\, demonst
 rates how social media\, artificial intelligence\, and new forms of intera
 ction can engage young people in democratic processes.Maria Sala Archelos\
 , a student in the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences and a member of the 
 Citizens’ Council\, represents the students’ perspective and explains 
 what participatory decision-making feels like in everyday (university) lif
 e. \nTogether\, the participants will discuss how democratic processes ca
 n be made more resilient\, accessible\, and sustainable.\nStefan Schröder
