Educational Objectives

Wiesbaden Business School

The two-semester Master in International Business Administration is completely taught in English. Building on the generalist Bachelor in International Business Administration, it deepens knowledge in the main functional areas of internationally oriented companies and organizations. An integrative view of business functional areas and general as well as intercultural management tasks fosters understanding of relations between business areas and their environment. Emphasis is also placed on economic issues appearing in an international context. As a result, our students gain a holistic understanding of business processes. In addition, students learn to integrate knowledge and tackle comprehensive problems. The master’s program focuses on entrepreneurial thinking as well as information and knowledge management, preparing our students well for management positions in an intercultural environment.

As bachelor’s students only partially understand the links between different functional areas, the master’s modules put special emphasis on integrating different aspects and functions of international management. To further enhance education, some of the modules are presented in a complementary way.

After a comprehensive evaluation of our master's program, our graduates’ experience and competitive offerings, we have come to the conclusion that a regional focus further adds to the program’s uniqueness and reputation. Many of our master’s program’s lecturers and students have excellent skills in Spanish as well as in English, and so the program emphasizes the Asia-Pacific region, including Latin America as well as Australia, East and Southeast Asia. Interestingly, only few German universities have put their academic emphasis on these important markets for small and medium-sized enterprises and multinational company groups. In the course of this reorientation process, we have continued the tried and tested generalist concept by linking the central functional management areas with lectures in the fields of controlling, accounting, international tax law, marketing and finance. Also, lectures in this master’s program deal with specific management challenges and interdisciplinary business topics arising in the APEC environment.

The courses in this degree program apply business and economic content to address the challenges of managing internationally oriented companies and entrepreneurship in a growing international economic network. The program prepares our students well for management positions in international companies based in Germany as well as in subsidiaries abroad or in international joint-ventures. Eight years after the first students embarked on the master's program in International Business Administration, we can proudly state that our graduates always have been and still are highly sought after on the job market.
