Bachelor of Arts in International Business Administration

Rising to the Challenge of Internationalization

By introducing the International Business Administration program in 1992, Wiesbaden Business School addressed the challenge of internationalization. This study program conveys business and economic content and puts special emphasis on the students’ proficiency in foreign languages. As a result, almost half the lectures are being held in a language other than German, with numerous classes taught in English.  Students are expected to frequently participate in English classes and continuously improve their English skills during the first three semesters. In addition, they are required to learn a second foreign language (French, Italian, Japanese, Russian or Spanish). In semester 6, students embark on an obligatory semester abroad at one of Wiesbaden Business School’s 50 partner universities. By this time, students need to demonstrate a proficiency level in the language of the partner university that enables them to successfully pass exams there. The wide array of partner universities is unparalleled throughout Germany, providing our students with a high degree of flexibility and the opportunity to achieve professional proficiency in a second foreign language. The obligatory internship abroad in semester 7 further promotes the international character of this degree program and fosters the students’ intercultural skills.

The degree program’s international concept and excellent reputation is not only confirmed by the high number of applicants, but also by the high demand for our graduates on the job market.

Pioneering in the Bologna Process, Wiesbaden Business School was one of the first German universities to implement the goals stated by the European Ministers of Education, striving to achieve comparability of higher education systems to simplify international acceptance and recognition of examinations and degrees.

In the course of the general transition from “Diplom” degrees to consecutive bachelor’s and master’s degrees, the degree program was replaced by the Bachelor of Arts in International Business Administration in 2003:

  • The Bachelor of Arts in International Business Administration is an eight-semester degree meeting international standards and laying the foundation for specialist positions in international companies.
  • The Master of Arts in International Business Administration is a two-semester degree program offering a strongly interlinked course program focusing on team and project work. It prepares students for management and leadership positions in international companies. All lectures are in English.

Both the bachelor’s and the master’s degree have been accredited by independent evaluators using strict criteria. Education programs that meet high qualification standards are the result (see www.fibaa.de ).
