Individual workstations as well as rooms for group work are available on all sites.

PCs for research

PCs for research are available on all sites. Here you can use the RheinMain University and State Library without registering.

Internet PCs

Internet PCs are available on all sites. These can be used by university members with their ID and by registered library users. These provide access to the Internet as well as the use of all common MS Office programs.

Conditions for using the Internet

on the Bertramstraße, Kurt-Schumacher-Ring, Unter den Eichen, Rüsselsheim sites

  • HDS ID required for Internet PCs and campus WiFi.
  • Use of Eduroam (for members of participating universities).

on the Rheinstraße site

  • Internet PCs: Registered library users who are at least 18 years of age log in with their user number and password. Internet usage is limited to 30 minutes per day, which can be divided into 15 minute blocks.
  • Unencrypted WiFi for all: "Gast-HLB", with no age restriction, no password necessary. However: no access to licensed content of the University and State Library.
  • RheinMain University members can also use the campus WiFi (registration via HDS ID).
  • Use of Eduroam (for members of participating universities).

Copying and scanning is possible on each University and State Library site. Printing is possible on the following sites: Bertramstraße, Rheinstraße, Unter den Eichen and Rüsselsheim.

Copy cards can be obtained at the Rheinstraße site, Students can use their StudentCard as a copy card. Charging stations are available on all sites. Payment with coins is usually also possible.

Copying

Copiers are available on each site. Payment can be made either with coins (exact change necessary) or with a charged copy card or StudentCard.

In the reading room on the Rheinstraße site there is also a device called "Bookeye" to make copies from books which require careful handling. You scan the content yourself and receive your printouts from the reading room supervisory staff upon payment.

Scanning

Scanning is possible on all sites - in Bertramstraße, Rheinstraße, Unter den Eichen and Rüsselsheim at our photocopiers. Either insert Euro 0,10 into the coin slot or use a charged copy card or StudentCard. Scanning itself is free of charge. No charges are made but credit needs to be available on your card in order to access the menu. The scans are stored on your USB stick.

Book scanners are available on the Kurt-Schumacher-Ring and Rheinstraße sites. Here you can scan book contents free of charge and save them on a USB stick.

Printing

Color and black-and-white documents up to A3 can be printed on the Rheinstraße, Unter den Eichen and Rüsselsheim sites at the copying machines. The files must be saved as jpg, tiff or pdf on your USB stick, which you connect directly to the copier.

Payment is made using coins (insert the exact amount) or by using a copy card or charged StudentCard.

To print out microforms, a Readerprinter is available at the information desk on the Rheinstraße site. You will receive the printed pages form the information desk after payment in cash.

Self check terminals

Self check terminals to borrow media are available on the Bertramstraße, Kurt-Schumacher-Ring, Unter den Eichen and Rüsselsheim sites. Here you can borrow media without help from staff. During times when service is limited (usually in the evenings or on Saturdays), this is the only way to borrow media.

Return boxes

Outside the opening hours, you can return media by depositing them into return boxes on the Bertramstraße, Kurt-Schumacher-Ring and Unter den Eichen sites. These media are then re-entered into the library lending system on the next working day.

The boxes can be found in the vicinity of the library entrance on each site.
