LIVING AND STUDYING
We know that the first few weeks in a new environment are never easy, so we try to assign you a Student Buddy. He or she will help you with formalities and give you information about living and studying in Wiesbaden and Rüsselsheim.
German Language Courses
Basic knowledge of German makes living in Germany much easier. To improve your existing knowledge we offer an intensive German language course for Erasmus students prior to the start of the semester, free of charge. Students who arrive as part of other exchange programs may also participate in the classes. The next German intensive course will take place from March 17 to April 1, 2016.
Our Language Center offers German and foreign language classes during the semester too.
Studying in Wiesbaden or Rüsselsheim
There are departmental international coordinators for the exchange programs of each department at our university. Please contact your departmental international coordinator before attending courses and lectures to discuss your curriculum with him/her.
If you have any questions regarding the selection of courses, or have difficulties in understanding the lectures, please approach the teacher of the class or your counseling professor of the faculty.
Please be aware that the language of instruction is mostly German, although the Wiesbaden Business School and the study programs Media Management und Design have classes taught in English. However, most of the departments also offer the possibility to do projects, exams or papers in English.
You can find a list of Departmental Coordinators here.
For information about the courses, please consult the homepage of your department.
Activities and excursions
Various activities and excursions will be organized by the Wiesbaden Business School tutors. You will get detailed information for every event one week in advance by email. Some events may require obligatory registration.
All students are encouraged to take part in the sports activities organized by our university. Most of them are free of charge.
As an exchange student at the RheinMain University of Applied Sciences you will get a "Semesterticket". It allows you the free use of regional public transportation in most parts of Hesse and also some places in Rhineland-Palatinate.
Cost of Living
You will need a minimum of EUR 600-800 for living expenses per month (accommodation, food and other expenses). Here you can find an estimation from the Deutsches Studentenwerk about the cost of living in Germany.
