How do I register for a language course?

Online registration is necessary for all language courses at the Language Centre. For obligatory language courses for your own degree program, you must register with your own department.

How does online registration for the additional courses provided by the Language Centre work?

To apply go to www.fh-wiesbaden.de/Sprachen

and click on "Language Courses" --> "Registration". Then choose the language of the course you wish to attend and select the course. To register enter your personal data (name, ID number, etc.). If you want to be sure your application was sent, you can check to see if your ID number appears on the Class Lists page.

Now I've got my timetable and I notice that I can't participate in the language course because of an overlap. What should I do?

That's a shame - but it happens. Please send an e-mail with your cancellation to the following e-mail address: 
sz-abmeldung@sprachen.fh-wiesbaden.de, containing your name and the course number of the course. This way we can offer open slots to your fellow students.

A course is supposed to start soon, but not enough students are registered. How do I know whether the course will actually take place?

If a course is cancelled because of insufficient registration, this information is published under "Aktuell" on the Language Center's website. If the course is not cancelled, you should in any case attend the first class meeting. It is always possible that students show up without online registration and the course will still take place.

Help! My degree program has its own obligatory English course - but my English skills are pretty bad.

Yes, that is a problem. The university does not offer beginner courses in English, which means you should inform yourself about the offerings of a nearby Volkshochschule and attend an English course there - if possible, an intensive course. If you are not a real beginner, you can attend a course to refresh your skills. In the semester break we offer intensive courses; during the term, there are support courses. Check under "Language Courses".

I'm not a student of the University of Applied Sciences Wiesbaden but I would like to attend a language course. Is that allowed?

Sure! If the course takes place during the semester you can register as a guest-Student (auditor) (click here ). The fee is 100€ (to be paid to the Student Information Office. You also need a signature (of the language instructor or of the Language Centre office), stating you are allowed to participate.

I'm a student at another university. What do I have to do in order to attend your language courses?
