Automotive & Manufacturing Engineering (M.Eng.)

Current News

As an exception, the master's program in automotive and manufacturing engineering accepts additional students in the winter in winter semester 2011/12.

In this special instance, you enter into the second semester with the modules alternative powertrains and internal combustion engine emissions (in Frankfurt), chassis 1 (chassis systems and chassis technologies) as well as organization and innovation management.

In the following summer semester 2012, you will then take the first-semester modules (digital factory, manufacturing processes) including the engineering tools module.

In winter semester 2012/13 you will then write your master's thesis. The courses left to make up the full curriculum are vehicle simulation, entrepreneurship and English for engineers. These three courses are offered as a block at the beginning of summer semester 2013, so that you will have completed your studies by the end of April 2013.

For students beginning in winter semester 2011/12, the program is thus two months longer as courses are only offered once a year.

Automotive & Manufacturing Engineering (M.Eng.)

The master's degree program examines automotive development from two different angles. On the one hand you will acquire competences in product development in the areas of combustion engines, alternative powertrains and chassis design. On the other, you will also gain knowledge on the digital factory and in the area of methods for the design of experiments.

In particular, the program teaches the following competences:

  • in-depth knowledge of designing and calculating combustion processes within the engine and of chassis design
  • knowledge of the powertrain concepts of the future and experience in their first implementation in test vehicles
  • integrative skills that allow you to apply computer science knowledge in the areas of engineering design and manufacturing
  • methods competences for mastering complex work assignments
  • professional English and organization management

Beginning in summer semester 2010, the program is offered in cooperation with Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences.
