Mechanical Engineering

The newly developed bachelor's program in mechanical engineering provides students with a solid expertise in mechanical engineering and its methods while placing special emphasis on interdisciplinary connections, systemic thinking and professional communication skills.

It is our aim to equip you with a sound scientific education that will enable you to develop suitable and pertinent interdisciplinary solutions in the mechanical engineering field.

The program moreover seeks to enable you to work independently, to critically evaluate work processes and efficiently cooperate in professional contexts (the ability to work well in teams and to perform well in work groups). This includes the ability to take on responsibility and make decisions in a target-oriented fashion by keeping business aspects in view.

Mechanical Engineering's Core Characteristics

The program provides

  • a thorough, wide-ranging education in the mechanical engineering disciplines
  • skills for methodically accessing new work areas within an appropriate time frame
  • instruction in engineering and methods knowledge with a special focus on interdisciplinary connections and interrelations, systemic thinking and core professional communication skills
  • in-depth specialized instruction in energy engineering, automotive engineering, aeronautical engineering, manufacturing engineering and product development modules
  • emphases in simulation technologies and automotive engineering
  • pronounced practice-orientation provided by internships (18 credit points)
  • good career opportunities through internships and work on a bachelor's thesis in the seventh semester
