Application Information

Application Requirements

The formal admission requirements for entering a cooperative degree program include having an apprenticeship contract with one of our partner enterprises. For the cooperative degree program electrical engineering, the entire requirements are the following:

  • Abitur (high-school degree), an entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences or a specialized Abitur
  • an apprenticeship contract for an electrical trade with one of our partner enterprises
  • alternatively: graduates with a Chamber of Industry and Commerce-certified vocational degree in an electrical trade and a part-time work contract with one of our partner enterprises

Vocational training in our partner enterprises usually starts on September 1. You should submit your application for an apprenticeship contract within the cooperative degree program electrical engineering in the fall prior to the year in which you intend to start studying because the enterprises tend to accept applicants in early selection procedures.

Application Procedure

The program always starts in winter semesters; classes begin at the end of September. Formal applications are accepted until mid-September. Study places are allocated directly by RheinMain University of Applied Sciences via its online application procedure (online application is for students with German documents only). Find the exact dates and further application information on our university's website under the tab "Studying with Us". In justified individual cases, application is possible right up until the first day of classes. Right now, there is no limited admission for the cooperative degree program electrical engineering if candidates meet all admission requirements.

The sequence of the different steps in the application process is the following:

  • application to a partner enterprise
  • signing an apprenticeship contract in an electrical trade with a partner enterprise; alternatively (for candidates who already have a vocational degree in an electrical trade): a valid part-time work contract with one of our partner enterprises
  • online application at RheinMain University of Applied Sciences for the cooperative degree program electrical engineering (leading to a bachelor of engineering degree)

Alternatively, application documents and information about admission requirements for applying for a place to study can also be obtained at the student services office at the Rüsselsheim location of RheinMain University of Applied Sciences.
