Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering (B.Eng.)

Giving a Shape to Future

Whether they are involved in putting up a new building or in transforming existing buildings, whether they work as planners, as executing site managers or expert consultant – civil engineers shape the future of our society. There are arguably few other educational paths that provide their graduates with similarly diverse career options and potential future work fields. Civil engineers may find interesting work places in the industry, in government and other public agencies, with the Federal Post Office or German Railways, at independent civil engineering firms or in research and teaching. And what other engineer will have an easier time opening up an independent office?

After years of anemic building activity, today's estimates project a future lack of civil engineers. We are therefore pretty confident in telling you: As a successful civil engineering graduate, you will enter onto a promising career path. As a civil engineer, you will be able to work in the construction and construction-related industry, in the service industry, in public agencies and as consulting and planning engineer.

The new type of degree program introduced at German institutions of higher education as a result of the so-called Bologna agreement, the bachelor's program, leads to an equally valid bachelor's (or in this case: engineering bachelor's) degree, no matter at which institution it is received. However, there are still differences: Universities of applied sciences focus on practice-oriented studies, while universities emphasize theoretical training. Independent from the type of institution awarding the bachelor's degree, the degree in any case provides the necessary qualification for applying to master's programs.
