Case Studies from all Areas of the Practice

Project work that simulate the actual steps of executing real-life design assignments forms the linchpin of the interior design bachelor's program. All students complete the core element of the bachelor's program's generalist educational strategy by choosing elective project modules from three areas:

• A: Designing Space
• B: Exhibition
• C: Objects & Furniture

An introductory project in the third semester creates the bridge between students' foundational training and project studies. A framework of practice-oriented assignments of low complexity combined with instruction in the fundamentals enables students to activate all the competences acquired during their foundational training in their eventual independent project work.

Hands-On Experience from Professional Exhibition and Event Design to Interior Design via Media

In the fourth or fifth semester, student complete a practical project (usually in the exhibition or even design area), often with external partners as clients. Going further than individual internships, this unique element of project realization within an academic program provides participants with an outstanding opportunity of entering the dialog of theory and its practical evaluation while receiving academic guidance at the same time. The specialized bachelor's program in interior design is taking account of the high demand for professionals in the areas of trade fair, exhibition and event design. Next to a crafts-and-arts-oriented interior and furniture design, the program also comprises trade fair and exhibition architecture, new media and virtual architectures, media-based design of space as well as scenography and set design and decoration.
