For the media and communications departments, the detailed ranking of 2008 focuses on the following elements:

• reputation of the program with other professors (ranking in the medium group)
• organization of the program (ranking in the top group)
• practice-orientation (ranking in the top group)
• student advising and support (ranking in the top group)
• overall conditions of studying (ranking in the medium group)

The German Designers Club assigns RheinMain University of Applied Sciences by far the top position in the category "promotion of young designers."
