The bachelor's program in applied computer science has been running since 2010/11. The program is the successor of the computer science program and replaces it. Upon degree completion, students can solidify their acquired knowledge by enrolling in the master's program in computer science.

Admission

The bachelor's program in applied computer science does not have limited admission. Students can enter the program every winter semester. Students enroll at the admissions office of RheinMain University of Applied Sciences.

Structure

The applied computer science bachelor's program is a six-semester program of study. Courses are complemented by intensive tutorials and small group projects with close contact to instructors. Students have up-to-date Windows and Linux work stations at their disposal. In the fifth semester, the program's academic education is enriched by an internship in an enterprise. From semesters four to six, students can follow their interests by placing individual emphases and actively participate in projects related to their bachelor's theses. Students may opt to choose one of the three concentrations in application development, system development or graphic systems.

The faculty's cooperation with German and international enterprises offer a variety of interesting opportunities for internships and the bachelor's thesis.

Requirements

The methods of computer science require strong abstract thinking skills and the ability to consciously apply the laws of logic. In secondary schooling, these abilities are particularly being furthered in mathematics and natural science classes. Prospective students with an affinity for using formal reasoning abilities are particularly being encouraged to choose computer science as their field of study.

Career Options

Given the broad-ranging education offered by the program, graduates can as a rule enter into all of computer science's areas of application. There graduates take on demanding positions in business, in manufacturing or in the service sector. Openness towards new technologies as well as their understanding of complex technical and commercial assignments allows graduates to work in interdisciplinary teams and to develop holistic solutions in the IT area.

Accreditation

The program was accredited by ASIIN (www.asiin.de).Go to the English page of ASIIN e. V.
