On January 1, 2006 the then existing faculties of computer science, design and media management merged to become the Faculty of Design – Computer Science – Media. The faculty defines itself as a competence center for media in all its different shapes. Artistic, technical and economic aspects of media are all represented at the faculty. The abbreviation DCSM is of course derived from the faculty's English name, Faculty of Design – Computer Science – Media.
The faculty has about 1,800 students who study in different bachelor's and master's degree programs.
